WHY CAN'T I SEE ANYTHING ON MY SCREEN?

SUNGLASSES FOR SCREENS

We've all been there: it's a bright, sunny day and we're trying to read a text message or our emails on our smartphone with our sunglasses on.

But suddenly the screen goes dark, and you can't see anything. Before you curse and throw away your mobile phone, take a moment to immerse yourself in the new world where sun and screen harmonise.

Sunglasses for Screens

In this blog post, we explain why we developed Sun Eyes sunglasses.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH MANY CONVENTIONAL SUNGLASSES WHEN LOOKING AT SCREENS?

Many sunglasses are polarised, which can be an advantage on water, snow, or ice. This is achieved by a filter that blocks intense, horizontally polarised light so that you can better enjoy outdoor activities.

BUT WHY CAN'T I SEE THE DISPLAY OF MY MOBILE PHONE?

Smartphone screens, like many other digital displays, emit light that is polarised in one direction - usually horizontally. When you wear polarised sunglasses, the lenses block this horizontally polarised light, making the display appear dark or even black.

Polarised lenses are popular for many reasons, but as an aid to viewing a mobile phone, there are some problems. LCD screens have their own polarisation filter. So when you add another filter, it becomes difficult.

CONCLUSION

Polarised sunglasses are fantastic when it comes to reducing glare and improving visual comfort in very bright conditions. However, they are often more of a hindrance in our modern day lives as we want to be "protected" most of the time. Sun Eyes sunglasses are non-polarised and have special filters and tints that allow better vision on smartphone, laptop and tablet screens.
